These pieces of Carvacraft items for your Art Deco desktop are highly collectable - and much sought after. This is a fine 1930s Amber Bakelite Perpetual Calendar.
The calendar would be put on your desk - to go with your Carvacraft amber inkwell, blotter, stamp wetter and notepad holder - as part of a set.
I only have the little imitation Amber calendar - but these are often harder to find. This one would have been designed by Charles Boyton of Carvacraft for John Dickinson and Co. Ltd., England, 1948 - but it has no marker's mark on the base (not all pieces of Carvacraft are marked).
The more usual Carvacraft calendars in the range have curved end sections or wings at each side - but this one is much simpler with straight geometric-shaped upstands at each side - where the date cards fit into. All the date cards are present and original to the calendar - and were made in the 30s. The cards are made of fine white plastic and printed in a 30s font with the Days of the Week, Months of the Year - and all the Date numbers. These are all legible and nice and clean.
The colour is a very distinctive Carvacraft golden Amber colour. As you can see from my photographs, it is in excellent condition with no damage and the amber colour is vibrant with no discolouration or fading.
Dimensions: The length of the base is 4 inches with a depth of 1 1/4 inches. The upstand sections from below the base to the top of each one is just under 2 3/4 inches. The height of the base and calendar sheets (to the top) is 3 1/2 inches.
The unpacked weight of the calendar (without the cards) is 78 grams.
