This is a sweet little pair of matching bisque pottery figures - which date to the mid 20th century - I would suspect the 1950s, perhaps even a little earlier in date.
These wee figures are marked to the base: FOREIGN, which was often marked on Japanese or German pieces of pottery after WWII.
These are little novelties - and take the form of a little Dutch Boy and Girl. I think that these ones are probably Japanese in origin.
They are not traditional "nodder" as such - as their heads do not nod up and down - but the mechanism is the same and this wee couple instead sway from side to side. Not sure if the pin has been replaced later on - but there is the head of a little glass pin holding the movement mechanism in place as you can see in my photographs.
Each figure is made of bisque pottery - with has a Royal Blue over-painted glossy glaze on the clothes - and wee blush tinted face and hair.
In good condition with no damages. These little "nodder" type figures are now quite hard to find - and my asking price for this pair is a fair one.
Height: about 3 3/4 inches in height.
The wee figurines will be sent with Royal Mail (Small Parcel) postage. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
