This a more unusual Staffordshire Spaniel dog. It takes the form of a jug or pitcher, and the wee doggie's tail curls around to create the jug's handle. He wears a little tricorn hat which forms the rim of the jug. It has highlights of old gold gilt on the body, as photographed in close-up.
It is NOT A REPRODUCTION and is a fine late Victorian one. It is in lovely condition with no damage. There are no cracks in the model - and you will be able to fill the jug with water and it will not leak. How pretty would this wee fellow be sitting on your window ledge with a little posy of spring flowers.
This antique jug is nicely modelled and the design is an adaptation of mantlepiece dogs or Wally Dugs.
I love the peach-coloured band around each dog's muzzle - and its little red down-turned mouth. The dog has painted yellow eyes.
This spaniel dog would certainly look fabulous on a country kitchen dresser or a fireplace in a Victorian parlour.
The overall height is 7 1/2 inches. The width at the widest point is 5 1/2 inches. The depth is 3 inches. Unpacked the jug weighs 500 grams.
UK Postage will be with Royal Mail Recorded (Small Parcel). This will be applied to your order at the checkout. It would be about £25 to post the jug to the States, etc.
