This is a great vintage piece of heavy Stuart Crystal.
**Please note that I have two wee lots of matching wine glasses in this pattern in my store. Four larger white wine glasses and five smaller white wine glasses**
My fabulous jug takes the form of a bulbous shaped pitcher or jug - it has a chunky applied handle with polished facets all along the handle edges, as photographed.
The around the rim and elongated vertical oval facets all around - and these are divided in half by a band of five parallel lines.
Around the centre of the jug is a fringed pattern - with the points facing upwards - and another two parallel lines below. The bottom half of the jug is all cover with more oval polished facets - this time placed on their sides. There are three rows of these facets.
It stands on a foot - which is is engraved with a fancy star on the base with some more of the fringing decoration.
It is a great jug for popping on a formal dining table filled with ice cubes and chilled water - or perhaps for spicy winter cordial. It has a nicely shaped spout to make pouring liquid easy.
It would also look great used as a vase with springtime flowers in it on and window ledge where it would catch all the sunlight.
It is a large jug in excellent condition - no chips, losses, or scratches to the surface - and with an etched touchmark that reads: Stuart England to the side of the foot (as photographed). With all the facets and reflections on the glass - it has been rather difficult to photograph - so hope that my photos do this fine piece of discontinued British crystal justice.
Dimensions: Height is 6 inches. From handle to spout is 6 1/2 inches. The diameter of the foot is 3 3/8 inches.
Weight is 1.1 kg. It will be sent with Royal Mail Medium Parcel (Recorded). This will be applied to your order at the check out.
Great piece of vintage top-quality crystal is on offer at a very fair price considering the skill and amount of work that has gone into making it.
HISTORY: First manufactured in England in the late 1880s by Frederick Stuart and, later by his sons, the company was successful right up until 1995, when it was purchased by Waterford Wedgwood. It was only six years later that Stuart Crystal ceased production and closed its doors forever.
