This is a lovely 1940s serving plate for a whole side of a fish by the German pottery company, Thomas. This pattern is now very hard to source. Thomas has been run as an independent subsidiary of Rosenthal since 1908 - and these wares are of excellent quality.
This very rare and exceptional large platter has the green Thomas Ivory Bavaria backstamp - which was used on their ceramics between 1939 and 1952.
The design has a fine decoration of stylised leaping fishes running around the rim. There is a silver banding around the edge.
This plate is perfect if you have dinner parties and serve full salmon to your guests.
It measures 24 1/2 inches in length and is 10 1/4 inches wide.
In excellent condition - with no damages of any kind.
Sadly - the size of this platter would prevent me from sending it outside of the UK.
This will have to be sent as an "outsize" parcel with Parcelforce48 - this pushes up the price to post on this item. But it is worth it! where will you find another like it...
