This is a very unusual and now hard-to-source vase made in the late 1950s by Burleigh Ware.
It is fully marked to the base, as photographed.
The vase is a fine large one - measuring 9 1/2 inches in height. It is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks.
The vase has an attractive white eggshell glaze - and is decorated with hand-painted images of African tribal warriors. There are two dressed in red and yellow on the front - and a larger single figure dressed in blue on the back. These tribal images were very popular in the 50s - and this pattern might have been borrowed from more popular and less rare ceramics issued by Wade (Zamba).
The interior of the vase is a glossy red colour - often used on mid-century Burleigh Ware ceramics.
This vase is now hard to source, especially in this pristine condition. This is reflected in my asking price. It will look fantastic in a mid-century interior.
Due to its size - it will have to be sent to you in a larger box with Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. Their medium size parcel will cost £6.95 and be applied to your order at the checkout.
