These are really cute - and a great wee set if you collect antique Children's Ceramics / Nursery Ware
On offer here are a lidded tureen (with its very rare serving ladle) and its accompanying stand. There is also a miniature gravy boat and stand - and a little oval side plate or ashet - as shown in my photographs.
These date to the late 19th century or early 20th century.
Great little display items and in lovely condition with no chips or cracks.
Each item has a Bishop & Stonier mark to the base: and the word ASHLEY.
The tiny tureen measures 11 cm in length from handle to handle. The width is 6.5 cm and the overall height is 7 cm. The rare serving ladle is only 7cm long. The tureen stand is 11.5 x 9 cm. The spare plate is 11 x 8.5 cm. The gravy boat is 10.5 cm in length - with a width of 4 cm and at the highest point, it is 5 cm. The boat stand is 11 x 8.5 cm.
In 1891 Duncan Bishop and John Stonier created this new company trademark using the first letters of their surnames. The company was taken over by George Jones & Sons in the 1930s - so these wee pieces of nurseryware must date well before that time.
These little miniature pieces are now quite rare and you have to look hard to find these little table-size pieces scaled down for display or children.
They are priced as follows: the Tureen is £35. The jug and stand is £15 and the little ashet is £10
Please see my other little set of miniature Bishop and Stonier nursery items in my Iconic Edinburgh online store - of course, postal discounts would apply.
UK Postage with the Royal Mail Recorded would cost £4.95 and this would be applied to your order at checkout.
