These are a cute little pair of antique Staffordshire ceramic chimney spaniels or wally dugs.
They are in an excellent antique condition - and are a matching pair.
The male dog is slightly taller than the lady companion.
They both sit on a shiny Royal Blue cushion with an old gold gilt band around the outside.
They have a plain white body decorated with green spongeware patches - they have gold gilt collars - love their little painted staring eyes and eyebrows.
They have no damages. There is a firing airhole on the back of each dog.
My cute pair are NOT modern reproductions - and I suggest that they must date to the late 19th century. If you look at the surface under a strong magnifying glass you will see very fine random craquelure to the glaze - which only comes with age.
They are both about 3 1/2 inches in height - and the base is 2 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches.
