ese are a pair of hard to fine little plates designed by George Logan for Foley Art China. George Logan (1866 - 1939) was a celebrated furniture designer and was best know for his delicate Glasgow Style ceramic design. Many of these pretty Art Nouveau designs featured the Glasgow and stylised Secessionist flowers.
The mark on the back of each of my plates states that they were made for a particular Scottish store - Robert Maule & Son, Princes Street Edinburgh. This was a much celebrated department store. It was previously in the building occupied for many years by Binns and the House of Fraser. It has recently been converted into the Johnny Walk Experience. venture.
The plate is very typical of Logan's "Glasgow School" designs. with a circumference decorated in green crosses between bands. The inner design is very Nouveau in style with ribbons and circular drops.
Both plates are in perfect condition. The are both 7 inches in diameter. They are hard to find designs and this is reflected in my price for these pretty plates.
