This is a highly collectable 1920s or 1930s large-size tin.
It would be a good box for storing pencils, stationery etc - as it is a nice long size - but slimmer in height.
I have not been able to find another of these antique advertising tins for Bassett's Original Liquorice All-Sorts.
This one is a burnt orange colour with the name of the confectionary on the top - and each of the sides. The lettering is in black with a gold edging.
The lid is hinged along the top - the base is in good condition with no rust or dents - it has oxidized a little with age - and has a nice antique patina to the tin, as photographed. The hinge is secure and without issues.
The best bit is the lid which has a printed image of an antique white card box of All-Sorts - in all their glorious rainbow colours.
You could line the bottom of the tin with some white paper and full up with the sweets and use as a display item in an old-fashioned sweetie shop. Originally, this tin would have sat with its lid up - on the counter of a sweetie shop and filled with little waxed packets of the sweets - the image you could see on the interior of the lid would be enough to tempt you.
Probably a tin for the more specialist collector - who will know how hard it is to find nice examples of this rare tin. Only could find one other online - and that had been sold!
There are some little minor scratches here are there to the external paintwork, not disfiguring and commensurate with age. No dents or rusting. You won't be disappointed with it.
Dimensions: Length is just over 11 inches. The width is just over 7 inches and the height is just under 2 3/4 inches.
Postage in the UK will be £4.95 Recorded Delivery and Tracked with the Royal Mail.
