This is a more unusual pair of antique Victorian Staffordshire dogs in my Iconic Edinburgh Online store - they take the form of a pair of seated chimney spaniels.
They are slightly harder to find and are decorated with painted green lustre decoration as patches on each doggie. They are yellow painted eyes and their chains are also all hand-painted with matching olive green lustre links.
They are genuine Victorian examples, and definitely NOT reproductions.
They are nicely modelled examples in good antique condition - and form a matched pair as created.
CONDITION: there is a fine firing crack along the top of the head of the left-hand dog - very fine and hardly noticeable. There is also a bit of antique craquelure to the glaze to the reverse of this one - but again only really noticeable on inspection in bright light (and commensurate with age). The right-hand side one is fine with no issues. This is all taken into consideration when setting the price on this pretty pair.
One dog is slightly higher than the other - this is how they were designed as one is a boy doggie and the other a smaller girl dog.
There is an air vent hole on the back of each dog - and a raised number 3 on the base, as photographed.
They are an attractive pair and will look fabulous on a country kitchen dresser or on a fireplace in a Victorian parlour.
These are a cute smaller size for a more modern domestic size. Height: 9 inches. Width: about 6 inches and Depth: at the widest is about 3 1/2 inches.
I also have a larger pair of a similar style but with black eyes and blue surrounds - my larger ones are 12 1/2 inches.
These can be posted outside of the UK (probably in two parcels). Please ask for an international postage quote.
