This is a highly collectible and very decorative pair of large antique Staffordshire figurines depicting the Scottish poet, Robert Burns and his fancy, Highland Mary. The models probably relate to the subject of the Betrothal of Burns and Mary where they exchanged vows on the bank of the River Ayr. They date to the 1880s and were probably inspired by the print published by Henry Graves in 1882.
Interestingly, these antique models were later reproduced as a new version by Griselda Hill Pottery, Fife.
They are both a large size: Burns is 13 ½ inches in height. The width is 7 inches. He is 800 grams in weight. Mary is 13 inches in height. The width is 6 inches. 900 grams in weight.
Both are in excellent antique condition and date to the late 19th century.
These models are harder to find - and my price for this attractive pair is a fair one.
They are too large and heavy to send outside of the UK - so sadly, just for posting in the UK only. UK Postage will be with Parcelforce24. This will cost £10 and be applied to your order at the checkout.
