This is a pretty piece of vintage hand blown Scottish art glass. It dates to around the 1950s.
It has a little polished pontil that you find on pieces of Monart glass. It has an engraved Vasart mark on the base.
It is certainly a pretty vase with quite subtle, pale pastel colours.
The base colour is a mottled lilac-grey and this blends in with the green-blue colours around the rim. Where the two colours meet - there is a border of aqua green and lilac swirls.
There is a little ring to the base which forms a decorative foot. My vase is in good vintage condition and displays well. It has generally no chips or cracks to the main body section. However, there is an internal crack or fissure on the base - which forms a hairline cracks on the base area. This is not sharp and seems to be contained within the body of the glass. It does not leak and it remains totally water tight.
So if you wish you use it as a flower vase - this is possible.
It is a vnce larger size - with a height of 6 3/4 inches. Diameter at the top is 6 inches - and at the bottom it is 3 1/2 inches. Weight unpacked is 850 grams.
If perfect I would have priced this vase at £95 - but the internal firing crack on the bottom of the foot section would reduce this price substantially. I think the crack might have occurred when the hot glass was cooling down quickly and the crack has occurred. I am listing this at £45 to take this into account.
Fair price for a larger piece of vintage Vasart studio glass. It will have to be sent to you with Royal Mail Medium Parcel. This will be applied to your order at the checkout.
