This is a fine and collectable piece of British contemporary studio glass by the artist Siddy Langley.
It is signed and dated to the base on the pontil mark, as photographed.
The paperweight has a dark blue body colour and this is covered with gold iridescent swirls - this style is reminiscent of iridescent pieces made by John Ditchfield. It is a more unusual hand made piece.
Siddy Langley is one of Britain's finest glassblowers. She embarked on a three-year apprenticeship under Peter Layton at the London Glass Blowing Workshop in 1979 and then continued to work with him for a further five years. In 1987, she opened her own studios in Maidenhead, and ten years later moved to her current studio at Long Meadows Studio, Plymtree, Devon.
Siddy fashions each piece from molten glass incorporating metals such as gold, silver, and tin. Each signed and dated piece is unique.
