This is such a sweet little miniature bulbous-shaped vase by the potter Tony Laverick.
He was born in Sunderland in 1961 and trained in ceramics at Preston Polytechnic in the early 1980s, before designing for the industry in Stoke-on-Trent (working for both Wedgwood and Coalport). He left the Potteries in 1988 to establish his own pottery workshop. In 2014, he was made a Fellow Member of the Craft Potter’s Association and in 2015 was selected as a member of Contemporary Applied Arts.
Laverick has lived and worked in Leek, Staffordshire, for over 25 years. Much of his inspiration comes from the art pottery of late Victorian and Edwardian England,
My little pot has a great shape and is beautifully decorated with crackle glazes and twin blue hoops at the shoulder. I love the little neck coated in a thick matt gold coloured glaze. It has Laverick's studio mark on the base, as photographed. It dates to around 1995.
It is a cute display piece measuring only 4 1/2 inches in height and has a diameter of 3 1/2 inches at its widest point. The weight unpacked is 210 grams.
I have taken a lot of images for your inspection.
