I am not quite sure how this rare scarf managed to find its way into my possession. It was all gently folded in a box of ceramics that I had packed up back in 2010 and not opened up until now.
The World's Fair (or Century 21 Exposition) was officially opened by President John F. Kennedy on April 21st, 1962. By the time the fair closed nearly 10 million people had visited it.
On offer here is a rare printed large silk scarf made as a souvenir for visitors to the World's Fair held in Seattle, Washington in 1962. It is now 62 years old. Not many have survived in such fine condition - as the material is quite delicate and many would have been discarded over the years. There were a few designs for scarves available at the fair - but this one seems to be a little harder to find.
The image in the center shows the Seattle Tower, and around the edges, we have images of the monorail, The United States Science Pavillion, the Funfair, the World of Art etc.
It has no damage and is also nice and clean - with no discoloration or tears.
The scarf measures 76 cm (or 30 inches) square. and it has a hand-rolled edge all around - an indication of quality.
I have taken a lot of images of the scarf - it was a little difficult to photograph due to its larger size.
In the UK it would have to be posted with Royal Mail Recorded. I am going to cap this at £4.95 and this will be applied to your order at the checkout.
If this had to be posted to the USA - it would cost about £12 in a padded envelope for Tracked Post with the Royal Mail.
