Again - this is another lovely Scottish paperweight, designed by the glass maestro, Colin Terris for Caithness Glass.
It is a bit of a tour-de-force; and probably as such a weight for the more specialist collection.
The paperweight is called Blosson - and the design concentrates on a large pink rosebud in the center of the weight.
The weight is no. 25 from a very small edition of only 75 weights - and it was fully subscribed on the issue.
On its issue, this lovely weight was priced at £175 - so, of course, my asking price is a very fair one.
The weight is spherical with a large sliced facet "window" surrounded by a halo of slice cut facets - phew! I can count 20 of them.
The base colour is rich, dark aqua green - which is sprinkled with white granules on the top of it. The little pink rosebud issues from the center - and is flanked by three leaves.
The facets produce such a strange optical effect with this weight - almost like "magic mirrors" at a funfair.
At the reverse of the weight, the facets rise from the base and upwards like fingers - sadly there are a couple of the most tiny of fleabites to the edges - you really have to look for them in close up - you can't really see them with your weight on display - but only if you run your finger over them carefully.
The little blemishes to the facets on the rear as reflected in my reduced price for this fabulous weight.
It is a nice large one - being 3 inches in diameter and 2 3/4 inches in height.
Weight: 578 grams.
