I can't find another wee fellow quite like this one. So it is probably a special piece for a collector of matchboxes or Vesta cases.
This is a match safe which use to store matches and it also has a little striker section on the inside near Mr Toad's bottom lip.
It is really special and made of good quality cast iron - the match safe retains its original red paintwork - this is in good antique condition but commensurate with the matchbox being picked up and put down over a period of 100 years or more.
Mr Toad is hinged at the back with a good solid built-in cast iron hinge. The modelling is very realistic and fine. As mentioned - you will not easily find another like him - so have priced it on the rarity value and his lovely antique condition.
On his base - he has an antique Victorian or early Edwardian registration number: This is 252192 / 727568, as photographed.
The dimensions are overall length: 3 3/4 inches. The width at the widest point is 3 1/5 inches. It is 1 1/2 inches at its highest point.
Sadly, unable to send it to EU countries. UK Postage will be with Royal Mail Recorded and it will be £4.95 and applied to your order at the checkout.
