This is a rare novelty item - for the collector of antique bottles or flasks.
This is a little Victorian glass flask in the shape of a round fish - he is beautifully made.
The pale green shade of the glass is similar to that found in Victorian glass dumps - and this wee flask is most probably made by one of the Stourbridge glassworks - the stripes on the flask remind me of Nailsea glass bottles - but the ones on my wee fish are all raised - rather than being inside the glass itself.
The flask stands upright for display - and there is a round foot at the bottom for him to stand on.
I just love his shape... he has a round body - but is flat when seen to the side. He has two little applied round fins to each side of his body - and two more on his tail. You would fill the bottle up through his tail - and it would be sealed with a stopper.
The stopper on my one is a modern cork replacement. I love all the applied ridged of glass running as hoops around his body - so sweet!
Dimensions: the overall height at the tallest point is 3 3/4 inches. The total length is 6 3/4 inches. The depth is two inches including the fins.
A most unusual and rare old bottle - in good antique condition with no chips or cracks and no nasty staining inside.
It has a fair asking price for this hard-to-find piece of antique British glass.
