This is a heavy hardwood Ice Bucket with beautifully modelled lug handles on each side.
It is a good quality thick teak wood - with a good weight to it - and the styling suggests that it is probably a Danish design - and it will certainly look fabulous on mid-century Scandi-Modern furniture. It dates to around the 1960s. The wood has a lovely grain and fine patina of age - a nice darker teak shade.
I love the sunken lid with the knop - seen from the side, the lid vanishes. An extra special little design feature. It also has a fixed white plastic interior - which is in good clean condition - with no nasty discolouration and no smells etc.
It is certainly a very good quality vintage ice pail - measuring some 8 inches in height - with a diameter of the main body section of 7 1/4 inches and handle to handle is 9 ½ inches.
It is in good vintage condition with no splits or nasty cracks to the wood - and looks just fabulous on display. You wont be disappointed with it. A couple of teeny weeny dents to the edge rim - but very minor in nature and commensurate with age (check my photographs). Priced to take this into account - but it is certainly a very fine example.
It is a very substantial piece of barware - and very heavy due to it being made from thick slabs of teak. This means I will be unable to post with Royal Mail - and will have to the slightly more expensive Parcelforce48 service - to get to you in tip-top condition.
I looked for any maker's mark on this - it looks very like Digsmed (which would have had a paper label) or Quistgaard examples - but sadly not marked as such.
Sadly - due to the weight I would only be able to post this fine ice bucket to UK addresses.
